We believe that many of the youngsters would benefit from continued development of the ‘Kasper concept’. Many young people in Sweden and across Europe now have the opportunity to spend their summer holidays travelling abroad, experiencing other cultures and learning a new language. Unfortunately this is not possible for the majority of youngsters who are in some way learning disabled. We feel that the opportunity to benefit from such experiences should be available to all young people.
Camp Kasper, or Kasper Kollo as it is known in Swedish, was founded in September 2002 by John Moll and Johan Kallstrand. Camp Kasper in Sweden works with children and young adults aged 7 to 28 who have recognised learning difficulties. Typical learning difficulties include Asperger’s Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD and Tourette’s Syndrome. At camp, they experience the kind of positive and secure environment that enables them to take new steps in terms of social integration and finding new insights into their disorders and difficulties.
